The twenty-first century is hardly a decade old when the world suffers “BlackFriday”, a tipping point after which everything goes mad.  Our planet becomes  a lethal place.  Mayhem is everywhere.  Superstition and voodoo stalk the land.  The Footsie Index becomes a minus quantity. 

To escape this anarchy a bizarre assortment of people hole up in the “Club Destiny” a sort of last chance café at the margins of cyberspace.  This eccentric establishment is home to the enigmatic Master Of Ceremonies and the all-knowing Chef.  The show tells the life-histories of some of our refugees through dance, story-telling, live music, trapeze and circus skills.  There is Wild Child the tango-dancing rock-chick, Kid Rhythm who has travelled across Africa to escape the drought, star-struck Honey,and Charlie Buttons the entrepreneur who never quite made it. In fact a dozen of the world’s strangest drifters wash up on this distant shore.

Danger lurks just outside the door of the club.  A gang of wild sado-masochistic, amphetamine-charged, leather-clad self-harmers called ‘The Scorpions’ constantly threatens to invade.  With the sharp eye of satire the story unfolds with a rye glance at human foibles whether they are in the world of politics, fashion, celebrity or religion. A multi-talented cast of twelve fulfil all the roles.

In the end some of our renegades opt to stay in their refuge while others decide to brave the world outside to try and change it for the better. Colourful, irreverent and dynamic “A Date With Destiny” heralds a new chapter in live entertainment.
